Character Animation – Human Movement – Stop Motion Course (T1b)
Character Animation study in Human Movement is an online stop motion animation course comprised of both live lectures and pre-recorded instruction. This specific course focuses on the human physic and dynamic motions that comprise the biped movements of an animated character. Students can expect to receive both live lecture and recorded lessons along with mentorship from a professional animator. Upon complete the student should have a far greater grasp of animating a human character in stop motion then they could find education wise from anywhere else.
Course Description – This course is focused on body mechanics and performance through the use of a stop motion puppet. The student will learn to understand the flow and movement of the human body in the form of a stop motion animation through video demonstration and class exercises.

The completion of the course will earn the student a certificate in Character Animation of Human Movement. To complete the course the student will need to show competence in understanding the instructional content along with submission of assignments and final assignment.
Location – This course is 100% online and can be taken anywhere that internet access is available.
When -The live section of the course will launch as of Saturday March 6th 2021. The pre-recorded portions of the course will be accessible the Monday after each live lecture.
Length – The course is an 8 week live lecture course. However, students have up to one year to complete the course in their spare time. All lectures will be recorded in case students are unable to attend.
Requirement – Students are required to have a internet ready device such as a smart phone, tablet, or computer to be able to access the lessons. Students will also need to have access to a puppet that is either hand built our of wire or ball and socket or purchased. There are many choices out there for puppet selection such as armature kits or even articulate toys. Students will also need access to a stop motion frame grabbing software either purchased or free such as Stop Motion Studio app (free) or softwares like Dragon Frame (paid) or Stop Motion Pro (paid) to just mention a few. Please note that all softwares require some sort of camera such as a DSLR or Webcam. Smart phones and tablets already have cameras built in.
Mentorship – Students will have access to their instructor who will review their work, give them advice, and answer any questions they may have. This is done either through one on one counseling times or through written exchange. Students should feel confident that they are receiving professional advice from a professional animator.
